The System Audio Recording permission

Your audio never leaves your Mac.

macOS requires this permission for any app that processes the sound other apps play — it's simply how a system-wide EQ works. MarshEQ applies your EQ in real time and hands the audio straight to your output device. Nothing is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Open MarshEQ with right-click → Open
The app isn't yet notarized by Apple, so on the very first launch right-click it in Applications and choose Open, then click Open in the dialog. macOS remembers your choice from then on.

Wait for the permission prompt
macOS shows a permission prompt for System Audio Recording. This is expected — it's the API every system-wide EQ uses.

Click “Open System Settings”
The prompt takes you straight to Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. You can also get there manually from System Settings.

Enable MarshEQ, then relaunch
Flip the toggle next to MarshEQ and reopen the app. That's it — your EQ is live for every sound your Mac makes.
